Hands-On Learning

Learning by Doing

Permaculture is best learned with your hands in the soil. PERMA's activities bring older adults and youth together across Cyprus and Spain — in gardens, workshops, field trips, and festivals — to share knowledge, build community, and grow sustainable practices.

Establishment of 2 Community Permaculture Gardens as practical learning spaces, fostering intergenerational collaboration

Two community permaculture gardens — one in Cyprus, one in Spain — designed as living classrooms. Each garden is led by newly trained older adults and co-maintained with newly trained youth, putting the principles of the Training Pack into practice. Each garden is launched with an Open Day inviting community members for hands-on, peer-to-peer learning.

Organization of 4 Intergenerational Workshops with 40 participants to promote knowledge exchange

Four workshops bringing together 20 older adults (10 per country) and 20 youth (10 per country) to learn and practice permaculture techniques side by side. Workshops promote intergenerational exchange, ecological awareness, and the kind of slow, patient learning that happens best across age groups.
